Readly Open the reader →

Read in Readly

A button for your bookmarks bar. On any site, select a passage and click it — or click with nothing selected to read the whole article. Readly opens with the text ready.

On a computer

Show your bookmarks bar (⌘⇧B on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+B elsewhere), then drag this button onto it:

⚡ Read in Readly

How it works

  • Text selected: the selection opens in Readly, whatever its length — a paragraph or a whole chapter.
  • Nothing selected: Readly fetches the page and pulls out the article, the same way a pasted link works.
  • The selected text goes straight from the page to Readly in your browser. It is not sent to our server.

On a phone

Android: open the reader in Chrome and choose Install app (or Add to Home screen). Readly then appears in the share sheet: select text or share a page from any app and pick Readly.

iPhone and iPad: iOS does not let web apps join the share sheet. Copy the text, open Readly and tap Paste text — one tap, no typing.

Some sites block it

A few sites forbid bookmarklets outright with a strict content security policy — GitHub is one. There the button does nothing; copy the text and press ⌘V in Readly instead.
