When you paste an article link, our server fetches that page once to extract the readable text. Here's what happens:

Article Links: A pasted URL is fetched once by our server, the article text is extracted and returned to you.
Reading: The text is shown to you one word at a time and kept only in your browser.
Storage: Without an account we store none of it. With an account we store the extracted text of documents you open, so your library and your reading position survive — never the original files.
